Railroad Passenger Car Educational Foundation

Question - How do passenger car air
brake systems operate?
Answer - Contact the Railroad Passenger
Car Alliance Educational Foundation and you will find out!
Unlike freight equipment, passenger cars are a very complex machine
utilizing a variety of systems that all need to operate in harmony with
each other. Air brake systems, draft gears, wheels & bearings are just
some of the components that if not maintained can create a host of
problems for the car owner and the railroads.
As Amtrak began to standardize their rolling stock, much of the
heritage fleet and it's knowledge base base began to disappear
With this in mind the RPCA Board of Directors created the Railroad
Passenger Car Alliance Educational Foundation as a branch of the RPCA.
The RPCAEF primary goal is to provide educational services to equipment
owners/operators, and to preserve the knowledge base on
passenger equipment for future generations.
