Roger Fuehring - President

Roger was born and raised in Bellevue Ohio and grew up working with the Mad River & Nickel Plate Railroad Museum and Golden Age Railroad Equipment Inc. Roger spent several years working on excursion trains and private car trips. He started his railroad carrier with Indiana &Ohio Railroad &the Central Railroad Company out of Kokomo Indiana. In 1991 he founded FM& Car and Locomotive Repair, based out of central & southern Indiana and provides mechanical services for locomotives, passenger &freight cars. Roger was the former owner and manager of FM& Rail Service based out of southern California and he has worked on many projects large and small from New York to Los Angeles. Some of his clients have included New York &Atlantic, Pacific Harbor Lines, Louisville &Indiana and many other smaller customers including grain elevators, steel mills and smaller freight and tourist railroads. Roger also works with training other companies on maintenance and repairs to locomotives and freight cars in addition to operational training. As of November 1st of 2014 Roger is slowly moving away from contract work and is focusing on his new job as the Operations Manager of the Madison Railroad in Madison Indiana. Roger lives in Southern Indiana with his wife Cathy.

Mr. Wullich is originally from Batavia, NY and is a Certified Public Accountant. A graduate of St. Bonaventure University he is the owner of Rail Journeys West Inc. – a luxury private rail travel company that provides various passenger rail management and consulting services. The Company also owns the former California Zephyr dome-observation car “Silver Solarium”. Like many people, Roy’s interests with trains began with a Lionel train set around the Christmas tree. A member of the RPCA since 1988, Mr. Wullich started working with the Western New York Railway Historical Society in Buffalo, NY with railcar preservation and excursion operations. Roy has continued working with various excursion, charter and special trains; historical preservation projects; as well as various roles in both museum and operation management. Roy also has served and continues to serve on the Boards of several non-profit organizations and railroad preservation organizations. Roy has owned over 24 pieces of historic rail equipment throughout his preservation efforts. Mr. Wullich has also held various management positions at several international companies including Intel Corporation, KPMG and Price Waterhouse. Mr. Wullich has been RPCA President since January 2008 and a Board Member for many years. Mr. Wullich resides in Santa Clara, CA.
Henry Weller has been an RPCA member since
the second RPCA meeting in Sandusky, Ohio. He served as the
organization’s second President from 1999 until 2008 and has been on the
Board of Directors since it’s inception. During his career, he worked
for Class I railroads, owned all or part of a number of shortlines,
worked in various management capacities for several other shortlines,
spent over 4 years with Amtrak and was/is employed by an engineering
consulting firm who specializes in rail related projects, both
operational and mechanical. His last full time rail position was Vice
President of Operations and Chief Mechanical Officer for a midwestern
shortline holding company. Henry’s interest in railroads began at a very
early age and continues through the present. He is the third generation
in his family to work in the industry. Ironically, the railroad lineage
comes from his Mother’s side of the family. He has been privileged to
serve in many facets of the industry in diverse geographic locations.
Ed Ellis - Director
Railroader, traveler and writer Ed Ellis was born and raised in Paducah, Kentucky. He worked his way through college as a brakeman and switchman on the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Transportation degree in 1976.
He joined the management team of Chicago and North Western at a time when CNW was fighting for its survival in competition with the Rock Island and Milwaukee Road, against a backdrop of deregulation brought on by the 4R and Stagger Acts. As Assistant to the Senior VP Traffic, Mr. Ellis participated in formulating CNW’s strategy on deregulation, particularly with respect to development of confidential contract rates, where CNW was the industry leader. As Manager of Equipment Planning, he oversaw a dramatic increase in fleet size, including acquisition of grain-covered hoppers and a substantial portion of the Rock Island’s car fleet, when that carrier was liquidated.
In 1983 Mr. Ellis led the formation of a shortline group called Chicago West Pullman and was a key part of the company’s growth to eight properties in eight years, during which time he was also involved in direct management of the largest railroad in the group.
In 1992 he joined RailTex, the largest feeder railroad company. In 1993 he won the Distinguished Marketing Achievement award from Railway Age magazine for developing and implementing a rail-based small shipment program.
In September 1996, Mr. Ellis joined Amtrak and became Vice President, Mail and Express where it was his responsibility to grow Amtrak’s mail and express traffic. During his five years at Amtrak, revenue grew from $44 million to over $120 million.
In 2001, Mr. Ellis led the formation of Iowa Pacific, with the goal of developing a portfolio of freight and passenger railroads and rail-related businesses. Today, Iowa Pacific operates 9 railroads in the US and two in the UK, and features a host of ancillary businesses including locomotive and car leasing, track maintenance, passenger and private railcar operations. Iowa Pacific’s 2011 revenues will exceed $80 million, not including the $90 million sale of Arizona Eastern which occurred September 1.
Mr. Ellis has served as a columnist for Trains Magazine, and hosts acoustic concerts at a mountaintop venue on IPH’s Rio Grande Scenic Railroad in Colorado. He and his wife Peggy live in the Chicago area and Southern Colorado. They have three children.
Brad Black - Director

B.A. (Brad) Black has been a member of the RPCA since 1988, and a board member since 1998. He also serves as the Chairman of the By-Laws Committee. He is a member of the RPCA Educational Foundation, where he serves as an Advisor and Air Brake Instructor. Brad has a long history of interest and experience with railway passenger cars beginning at the age of 15 in Southern California, where he was an active member of the Pacific Railroad Society Private Car Committee. Over the ensuing years Brad had a variety of partners in more than 40 private cars. Brad founded Silver Peak Railroad Resources (SPRR). SPRR is owned by Brad and his wife Nancy, and currently manages a fleet of three cars. Professionally, Brad has been employed in the rail industry since 1980, when he joined the Ventura County Railway Company as a signal maintainer. Since then he has worked for Northern Railcar Corp., Morrison-Knudsen Rail Systems Group, Quad Graphics, and the Maryland Rail Commuter Service (MARC), where he was an Assistant Chief Mechanical Officer. Brad is currently the Vice President and Sr. Consultant with Virginkar & Associates, Inc., where he supervises an inspection staff of 15 persons who carry out QA and QC inspections on new railway passenger cars, locomotives and transit vehicles at a number of locations. He is an Amtrak Private Car Inspector. He has served on both the AAR and APTA Mechanical Standards Committees that have developed many current industry standards, including the current Code of Single Car Tests for 26C Passenger Air Brakes.
Lewis foster - Director

Lewis Foster was born and raised in the area around Roanoke, VA. He is a software development professional and graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). He currently lives in Blacksburg, Virginia and works as a Software Architect for several education-oriented software applications for Public Consulting Group. He caught the “railroad bug” from his father, who worked for Norfolk & Western and Norfolk Southern.
Along with his father, Lewis owns the Minneapolis Club, a former Northern Pacific / Chicago, Burlington, & Quincy 4 double bedroom, compartment, buffet, round-end observation car. Since they both enjoy traveling by train, they decided that this would be a fun (and challenging) project to take on together. The car is currently eing refurbished and upgraded for Amtrak certification. Once this work is complete, they plan to make the car available for charter and lease.
Lewis also volunteers with the Roanoke Chapter, National Railway Historical Society. For the past three years he has served as a member of the Chapter’s Board and as Secretary of the organization for the past two. He also works with the Chapter Mechanical Committee, helping to maintain and restore the Chapter’s collection of passenger and freight rolling stock and its two operating locomotives.

Gary was raised in southern Colorado, just a stone’s throw from the Santa Fe and MoPac main lines. Developing an interest in history and the life sciences, he chose to pursue a career in Pharmacy. He accepted a pharmacist position in Monte Vista, Colorado following graduation from the University of Colorado. In 1980 he found himself practicing pharmacy in Pueblo, Colorado and practiced there while he and his business partners started a discussion of owning a private rail car. Deciding he wanted to be part of a group of owners, he soon realized that he would need to join RPCA to gain the knowledge and develop contacts within the realm of railroading. Since joining RPCA he has extended his mechanical knowledge by enrolling in two welding classes at the local community college. In 2008 his group purchased an ex-Canadian National touring car called the Bedford. He has since been involved in all phases of the restoration and modification of the car to meet Amtrak standards. Gary is not alone in his pursuit of getting a car on the rails, as his wife, Sue, has helped in some of the hands on work as well as serving up encouragement along the way.

Judy Gray -Director

Judy was elected to the RPCA board at the 2015 Reno meeting.
Judy Gray was born and raised in Indianapolis Indiana. Judy is the third generation of her family with interest in the Railroad industry. She is currently an active member of the Whitewater Valley Railroad in Connersville Indiana and the C. P. Huntington chapter of the National Railroad Historical Society in Huntington West Virginia. At the Whitewater Valley Railroad Judy is a certified brakeman, conductor and engineer. She is also the Railroad Archivist. Judy has been a member of the Day Out with Thomas planning committee for 15 years, she was also the chairperson for the Dinosaur Train committee, and has coordinated many different train show exhibits. At the Huntington Chapter of the National Railroad Historical Society she has been an active volunteer on the New River Train. Judy (Clem) Gray is the co-author of the Arcadia book Images of Rail: The Whitewater Valley Railroad. She has been an active member of the Rail Car Passenger Alliance since her first convention in 2010.
Judy graduated with a bachelor’s degree in History from Marian University in Indianapolis Indiana and a Masters in Library Science from Indiana University. She is currently a library branch manager for the Indianapolis Public Library. She resides in Carrollton Indiana with her husband William.
